I dove into Tongues of Deception with no prior knowledge of the tragic events that unfolded near Tomahawk, Kentucky in 1933. Reed’s extensive research on the individuals involved, coupled with the historical accuracy of this specific area of Appalachia set against a backdrop of a nation in despair, immerses us deeply in a strained world.
